Grade 16 District Court 19D, serving Hoke and Moore counties, seeks a qualified individual to provide administrative and case management duties for the District Court Judges.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform case management procedures, track status of cases and prepare periodic reports, schedule cases, and resolve scheduling conflicts, prepare, and distribute calendars, and answer questions regarding status of cases.
Manage and monitor case flow to ensure that cases are in compliance with Family Court time standards.
Assign new Family Court cases to judges for case tracking purposes.
Compose and prepare a variety of materials including correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
Assist with legal research.
Schedule appointments and meetings, make travel arrangements, and maintain administrative records for the office.
Screen callers and visitors, answer inquiries, secure and give information.
Screen and route mail according to contents of communication including email.
Copy, file, and retrieve materials and perform periodic follow-up activities.
Arrange the appropriate event (Equitable Distribution Scheduling Conference, Custody Mediation Orientation, etc.
) and court dates according to Family Court procedures and timelines.
Prepare and publish court calendars.
Assure that cases are calendared at the correct times to follow Family Court timelines and assure that an appropriate number of cases are calendared to make proper use of the judge's time.
Reset all cases continued from or not reached on the trial calendar.
Review all files scheduled for pretrial hearings to determine the general status of the case and to notify the judge of any hearings currently scheduled and pleadings from attorneys.
Prepare orders and draft correspondence as directed by the judge.
Respond to attorney/party requests for case status information or calendaring dates.
Other duties as may be assigned by the Chief District Court Judge or Court Manager This position reports to the Court Manager.
Work hours are 8:
00 AM - 5:
00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Knowledge of:
civil procedures and domestic and juvenile law to assist in scheduling and managing case disposition; court system and procedures to effectively interact with judges, other government organizations and the general public; case management and calendaring rules and procedures to administer case tracking and calendaring system.
Skills in:
case management; organization; entering data quickly and with accuracy; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to:
effectively manage time in order to prioritize and complete multiple tasks; pay close attention to detail to assure that cases are moved through the system correctly; communicate effectively both orally and in writing to provide information to judges, team members and the general public.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in a human services field such as psychology, social work, sociology, counseling, or criminal justice and one (1) year of experience in a human services field or the court system; or an associate's degree in a human services field plus three (3) years of equivalent experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
